The York South-Weston council seat race has widened. While there are no polls available for council seat races, there are signs when a race shifts. Will Chiara Padovani and Daniel Di Giorgio cancel each other out helping Frances Nunziata win again?

When the Toronto municipal campaign kicked off, incumbent, Nunziata and third time challenger, Padovani, looked like they would be the only two candidates to watch in the crowded field. There are 9 candidates vying for the seat. It now appears that Di Giorgio may be throwing a wrench into that challenge.

All three candidates are concerned with public safety, Nunziata says she is not anti-police, Di Giorgio plans to hire more police. Padovani is more specifically concerned with road safety and would like to see dangerous intersections like Weston Rd. and Lawrence re-imagined for both people and vehicles. Nunziata and Di Giorgio have a focus on youth recreation both intervened when Weston Lions hockey programming was at risk. Padovani also has a focus on youth recreation and would like to see existing facilities expand their programming, she is a long-time children’s soccer coach in the community. Nunziata and Di Giorgio are both opposed to a change in zoning at Keele North Park Plaza. Padovani believes strongly in tenants rights.

Di Giorgio is a TCDSB trustee. He ran under the Liberal banner provincially in York South-Weston in 2025, the PC candidate took that seat. Di Giorgio unlike Nunziata or Padovani has endorsed Brad Bradford for Mayor.
