The neighbourhoods of Junction Spin are sending 2 new faces to Queens Park. Alexa Gilmour, newly elected Member of Provincial Parliament for Parkdale-High Park and Mohamed Firin newly elected MPP for York South-Weston. Gilmour holds the seat for the New Democratic Party and Firin holds the seat for the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party. Both are newcomers to provincial politics; we congratulate them.
Of the 3 ridings that overlap Junction Spin, 2 saw some change and 1 saw practically no change. The parties all remain the same after the election. With the NDP representing both Parkdale-High Park and Davenport and the OPC’s representing York South Weston.
Marit Stiles won her seat, so the Davenport riding remains the same. The NDP remains the official opposition party. Premier Doug Ford and the OPC’s remain the governing party losing 3 seats but holding onto their majority, a historic win. The Liberals under the new leadership of Bonnie Crombie, have regained official party status in the legislature with 14 seats. Bonnie Crombie, did not win her own seat but she has vowed to remain party leader.
