There are games being played on Wednesday that will be broadcast publicly on the big screen at Nathan Phillips Square

Wondering how to celebrate Canada Day this Wednesday? With a day off in the middle of the week and no preplanning to include the 2 days ahead or behind, you may be wondering what to do. Lucky for you there’s a lot going on.
Thanks to FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), who for more then a century has organized football (soccer) at a global level, we can celebrate the highest caliber football played this Canada day. Canada along with Mexico and the U.S. is the official host of this year’s FIFA World Cup, celebrated every 4 years.
Canada has advanced out of the current round and will play the winner of a match between the Netherlands and Morroco in the next round. There are games being played on Wednesday that will be broadcast publicly on the big screen at Nathan Phillips Square, 4 p.m.: Belgium vs Senegal and 8 p.m.: USA vs Bosnia and Herzegovina.
There are 4 locations around the city where you can view city organized fireworks and likely countless other locations all over town. If you’re looking for a city sponsored fireworks display close by, your best bet is either Harbourfront Centre 235 Queens Quay W, Toronto, ON, M5J 2G8 or Amesbury Park 151 Culford Rd, North York, ON, M6M 4K6.
If football or fireworks are not your thing, visit a local museum, most will be offering free admission on Wednesday. Locally Montgomery Inn, 4709 Dundas St W, will be offering free admission to the museum along with their farmers market on Wednesday.
The City of Toronto is careful to acknowledge that Canada Day can be difficult for many.
