Preservation Recommendation
Axis Restaurant and Bar, a fixture in the neighbourhood with one of the best patios for enjoying food, fun and sun in the city. The Zalucky Art Gallery, also a favorite spot in the Junction

The Toronto Preservation Board has recommended 3044-48 Dundas Street West for inclusion on the City of Toronto’s Heritage Register, as reported by retiring Parkdale – High Park Councillor, Gord Perks. The properties are only part of the West Toronto Junction Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Study area.
The three addresses include Axis Restaurant and Bar, a fixture in the neighbourhood with one of the best patios for enjoying food, fun and sun in the city. The Zalucky Art Gallery, also a favorite spot in the Junction, occupies the property. Additionally there are residential units in the building. Both businesses and residents would likely not notice an impact with the award of the designation, if any it could be positive.
The West Toronto Junction Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Study area is much larger then the recommendation. The study considers mixed use, commercial and residential properties. You can visit the city of Toronto website for more information on what other districts in the city have been awarded the designation. They are both rare and not unlike the Junction.
The item will be up for review at Toronto and East York Community Council meeting some time over the next 2 days and then again at Toronto City Council at the end of July.
